Salt & Straw at Boxwood on the Roof

Enjoy Salt & Straw Handmade Craft Ice Cream Pop-Ups this July at Boxwood on the Roof.

Click here to learn more about Salt & Straw.

The first pop-up will be held on July 21st, featuring the following flavors:

    Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons

A very basic and delicious sea salt ice cream ribboned with hand burned caramel. With the help of salt expert Mark Bitterman, of Portland’s The Meadow, we chose a Guatemalan fleur de sel because it highlights the freshness of this great cream from LA’s Scott Brothers Dairy.

    Honey Lavender

We carefully steep lavender petals with locally harvested honey. Bee Local honey is extra special because their hives are located all around Portland and yield a variety of flavors depending on location and season.

    Freckled Woodblock Chocolate

This is one of our favorite flavors from our shops up in Portland, OR; we just had to import it down here to share with Los Angeles! Roasting cocoa beans in a 19th century-old fire roaster, Woodblock is the first bean-to- bar chocolate maker in Portland. We add in a bit of Jacobsen sea salt, the first to harvest salt from the Oregon coast in over 200 years, and then use an old-school ice cream making technique called freckling to suspend the chocolate in an untempered state.

Silencio Black Tea with Coconut Stracciatella

A coconut-based, non-dairy, chocolatey delight. Made from a black tea blend from August Uncommon Tea in DTLA, the flavors in their Silencio Black tea come from a blend of Indian black teas, cocao shells, black pepper, and dried pineapple.
